History

Creeksea Place is the ancestral home of the Harris family and was originally built in 1569. A new wing was added to the building in the early 1900s by the Rome family, and in 1947 the estate was acquired by the Bertorelli family. Lord Mildmay, Keeper of the Crown Jewels, was one of the Twelve State Elders who signed King Charles I death warrant; he was later arrested at Creeksea Place and taken to the Tower of London.
